Clarinet Specialist and Woodwind Repair Technician, Bob Chest

Robert (Bob) Chest earned the Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education and the Master of Arts Degree in Clarinet Performance from Bob Jones University, where he taught woodwinds on the pre-college and university levels for over 40 years. His recent students hold positions such as Principal Clarinet of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, oboist with the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West, Clarinet Teaching Assistant at The University of Memphis, and middle school band director in the Greenville County school system.

He and his wife Sandy have been married for over 42 years and have four children and three granddaughters. They attend Greenville Christian Fellowship where Chest leads congregational singing for the Sunday evening service and regularly presents clarinet and saxophone solos for special music.

Bob also maintains an active performance schedule, playing with such groups as the Bob Jones University Symphonic Wind Band and Symphony Orchestra, the Spartanburg Philharmonic, and the Greenville Concert Band.

A lifelong interest in woodwind repair and maintenance has resulted in a new career at Musical Innovations! Bob joined Musical Innovations as clarinet specialist and woodwind repair technician in the summer of 2019.
